NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Brett Favre showed no ill effects from a jammed thumb suffered in his last preseason game as the Green Bay Packers stormed to a 38-17 victory over the New Orleans Saints.

He completed 11-of-19 passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns, but more importantly, showed the ability to throw passes hard and with touch. He had a five-yard scoring toss to Antonio Freeman and a one-yarder to Bill Schroeder in the second quarter.

Favre suffered the injury when his thumb got caught in the shoulder pads of Denver Broncos linebacker John Mobley on Monday.

Backup signal-caller Matt Hasselbeck continued his outstanding exhibition season, completing 8-of-11 passes for 110 yards and two scores. He has thrown for seven touchdown passes in three exhibition games and cemented his status as the Packers' No. 2 quarterback.

Rookie running backs De'Mond Parker and Basil Mitchell were impressive in the second half for the Packers (3-0). Parker had 55 yards on seven carries, while Mitchell had 56 yards and a score on 17 carries.

Billy Joe Hobert completed 10-of-15 passes for 179 yards and two touchdowns despite suffering cracked ribs in the first quarter after getting sacked by Santana Dotson. Hobert completed the half and had a 12-yard scoring toss to Brett Bech and a 47-yard TD strike to Keith Poole.
