RUSTON, La. -- Louisiana Tech, Tulane and Grambling State are among the 16 teams chosen for the 2000 Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament, which will be Nov. 10-20.

Tech will host Chattanooga and Tulane will host Grambling on Nov. 10 in the opening round.

The Lady Techsters lost four starters to graduation from last year's 31-3 Elite Eight team.

"It is quite an honor to be selected to compete in this tournament," said Tech head coach Leon Barmore. "It is a tribute to our program."

Rice, Virginia, Mt. St. Mary's (Md.), George Washington and Delaware make up the remaining half of Tech's side of the bracket, while Purdue, Eastern Michigan, Georgetown, James Madison, Texas and Wichita State are in the bracket with Tulane and Grambling.

It is the second time in five years the Lady Techsters will be a part of the Preseason WNIT field.

Barmore's 1996-1997 Lady Techster team captured the championship by defeating No. 1-ranked Tennessee 66-64 in Ruston.

The tournament semifinals are scheduled Nov. 19 and the championship game slated for Nov. 20.
