Huskers' Jones out for season

ESPN.com news services

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska forward Stephanie Jones suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee Sunday and will miss the rest of the season.

Jones, a 6-foot-2 freshman, sustained the injury less than one minute after being subbed into Sunday's 77-69 win over Creighton. Jones was battling the Bluejays' Krissie Spanheimer for a rebound when the two players collided into a courtside table with 14 minutes, 20 seconds remaining in the first half.

Spanheimer was not hurt, but Jones stayed down on the floor for several minutes.

Jones, who had started Nebraska's previous two games, averaged 6.5 points and 4.7 rebounds over the season's first six contests.
