Penn State and Purdue have hogged most of the spotlight in the Big Ten, but the Wolverines also put together a solid season -- including school records for Big Ten victories and most wins in a season -- to earn their third NCAA Tournament appearance. Stacey Thomas, a 5-foot-10 senior guard who was the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, leads the way, averaging 14.6 points and 7.8 rebounds, team-highs in both categories. Thomas also is the only Wolverine to start all 29 games for Michigan, which posted wins over then-No. 12 Purdue and then-No. 13 Illinios in January. In December, however, the Wolverines also lost by 20 to La. Tech.
