The Lady Blazers' season was promising from the get-go after they lost by just one point, 76-75, to Georgia in the Preseason WNIT on Nov. 15 in both teams' season opener. UAB also posted victories over Tennessee Tech, Nebraska and St. Peter's. Deanna Jackson leads the way, averaging 18.6 points on 47.5 percent shooting from the field, and 11.9 rebounds. The 6-foot-2 sophomore forward has posted 22 double-doubles on the season, and also holds the school's single-season rebounding record (357 boards). The team seems to be peaking, too. In the Conference USA tournament, UAB beat St. Louis by 18, then upset Marquette by 10 points en route to meeting Tulane in the final.
