Louisiana Tech playbook: Betty's ready

The Lady Techsters are looking to make their third consecutive appearance in the Final Four. In the 18-year history of the NCAA Tournament, Louisiana Tech has made it to the Final Four 10 times and won two championships ('82 and '88). Tech also won the AIAW national crown in 1981.

However, the Lady Techsters didn't take the trophy in the '90s, and they're ready to step back onto the winner's platform. Leading the Techsters is the outstanding senior guard tandem of Tamicha Jackson and Betty Lennox.

La. Tech has only one speed -- full speed. The Techsters don't spend a lot of time in a half-court offense. If they don't have a shot up after one or two passes, there's something terribly wrong. Most trips down the court end with a Lennox or Jackson drive to the basket, and not many teams have been able to stop them.

ANIMATE THIS PLAY DIAGRAM WITH SHOCKWAVE
(A) Takeshia Lewis (42) will be starting because Shaka Massey hasn't recovered from knee surgery. Lewis will begin this play with a pick-and-roll for point guard Christie Sides (22). This is just a distraction for the defense, however, since the goal is to get the ball to Lennox (25).

(B) When Lennox (25) receives the pass, she will either use the double screen set by Sides and Lewis, or will (C) drive to the basket on her own. This play can also be set up for Jackson (35) on the right side.
