PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Schuye LaRue scored six of her 26 points in the final 2:27 and 20th-ranked Virginia shut down St. Joseph's over the final nine minutes to pull out a 62-58 victory.

The Cavaliers (6-3) rallied from a 43-34 deficit with 13:22 left, turning up a defense that held the Hawks (3-4) to 33 percent shooting (17-of-51) for the game.

Svetlana Volnaya had a layup, LaRue scored twice on moves to the basket and Marcie Dickson hit a jumper in an 8-1 run that brought the Cavaliers to within 44-42 with 10:47 left.

Susan Moran's layup put the Hawks up 50-44 with 8:50 to play but the Cavaliers allowed just one basket the rest of the way.

Telisha Quarles hit a 3-pointer with 5:03 left that put Virginia on top, 55-52.

St. Joseph's held Virginia scoreless for nearly three minutes and Moran's layup gave the Hawks a 56-55 edge with 2:42 left. But LaRue hit a pair free throws and two jumpers down the stretch, giving the Cavaliers the win.

Volnaya finished with 10 points and Quarles added eight while LaRue grabbed 15 rebounds.

Angela Zampella scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Moran finished with 19 and 10 for St. Joseph's.
