AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -- Center Lori Nero had 14 points and 13
rebounds to lead Auburn to a 76-60 victory over
Southern on Monday.
Six players scored in double figures for Auburn (No. 18 ESPN/USA Today, No. 20 AP) in its season
opener. Southern is 1-1.
Carol Smith led Auburn with 15 points and added six assists. Shera
Looney had 14 points, Tasha Hamilton 11, and LaRita Spencer and
Shana Askew 10 each.
Southern guard Jacklyn Winfield scored 19 points, hitting five
3-pointers.
The victory was Auburn coach Joe Ciampi's 451st.
