Amazing Grace leads Tulane with 31 points

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Grace Daley scored 31 points, including five 3-point goals, to lead undefeated No. 24 Tulane to a 76-72 win Friday over LSU (No. 16 ESPN/USA Today; No. 11 AP).

Tulane hit only 39.1 percent from the field to 50 percent for LSU, but made up the difference with 3-point shots, converting eight to only one for the Lady Tigers.

The Green Wave improved its record to 11-0, while the loss snapped a 10-game winning streak for LSU (10-2). LSU coach Sue Gunter, on the verge of becoming the fourth coach to win 600 games in women's basketball history, was denied her 599th win.

Daley also had nine rebounds, four assists, four steals and a blocked shot in 37 minutes. Tulane's Janell Burse added 15 points and 14 rebounds, the third consecutive game she has tallied at least 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Marie Ferdinand was LSU's top scorer with 25 points, while DeTrina White added 16.

Trailing LSU 36-32 at the half, Tulane led by as many as eight in the second half before the Lady Tigers closed the gap to 74-72 with 30 seconds left after Tulane missed five consecutive free throws.

Fabrecia Roberson hit a free throw with 4.3 seconds left to seal the win for Tulane.
