STATE COLLEGE, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- Andrea Garner scored 17 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as sixth-ranked Penn State opened the Big Ten Conference schedule with its fifth straight win, 80-63 over Iowa.

Penn State (9-2, 1-0 Big 10) shot 45 percent (14-of-31) from the field in the first half as it gained a 42-25 lead. Iowa (3-7, 0-1) made just 38 percent (12-of-32) in the opening 20 minutes for its fourth straight loss.

Maren Walseth and Helen Darling scored 16 points apiece, Lisa Shepherd added 14 and nine rebounds and Rashana Barnes had 10 points for the Lady Lions.

Penn State gained a 50-33 rebounding advantage and shot 39 percent (27-of-69) overall.

Lindsey Medur and Cara Consuegra scored 19 points apiece and Jerica Watson added 12 for the Hawkeyes, who shot 42 percent (25-of-59) and failed to reach 70 points for the fourth straight contest.
