PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) -- Erin Buescher scored 22 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as UC Santa Barbara (No. 22 ESPN/USA Today, No. 23 AP) pulled away late in the game to defeat Washington State 89-73 Tuesday night. Stacy Clinesmith added 18 points for the Gauchos (8-3), including eight in a late scoring run. The Cougars (3-6) trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half and were down 18 points early in the second half. But they went on a 21-9 scoring run capped by Yvonne Volkman's lay-in with 6:46 left in the game to move to within 67-61. Clinesmith answered with back-to-back 3-point shots in the final minutes as well as a lay-in as the Gauchos put the game out of reach. Clinesmith finished with eight assists for UC Santa Barbara, which also got 17 points from Kristi Rohr. Alke Dietel led Washington State with 14 points. Jessica Collins added 13 for the Cougars, Tricia Lamb had 12 and Jen Kerns and Romie DeAnda both had 10.
