BOX SCORE
RUSTON, La. (AP) -- Louisiana Tech coach Leon Barmore doesn't often praise his team. He did after No. 3 Louisiana Tech beat Houston. Betty Lennox scored 22 points, reserve Takeisha Lewis added 19 and Tech dominated the Lady Cougars 94-49 in Tuesday night's opening round of its Holiday Classic. "This was a game where we could have sleep walk through, but our players took it seriously and prepared well for it," Barmore said. The victory moved Tech (9-1) into Wednesday night's championship game against Akron, which beat Southeastern Louisiana 74-58 Tuesday night. The Lady Techsters have lost just once in 43 games in this tournament. Louisiana Tech led 54-29 at halftime, got 38 points from its bench, had a 60-28 rebounding advantage and made 49 percent (38-of-77) of its field goals versus 28 percent (16-of-58) shooting accuracy by Houston (1-7). Ayana Walker had 14 points and seven rebounds and another reserve, Cheryl Ford, added 11 points. Danielle Fenderson's 11 points led Houston. "We've played five Top 25 ranked teams now and, while not trying to say one is better than the other or whatever, Louisiana Tech is another outstanding team we've had to face," Houston coach Joe Curl said. "That Lennox is some kind of shooter. She's a big time player and I will be shocked if she isn't in the running for national Player of the Year honors."
