Eagles fly into State Farm title game

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Ticker) -- Alissa Murphy scored 22 points as Boston College (No. 25 ESPN/USA Today, unranked AP) opened up a big lead and coasted to a 81-54 victory over Maine in the first round of the State Farm Classic.

Becky Gottstein added 18 points and 12 rebounds for Boston College (10-3), which shot a blistering 61 percent (14-of-23) in the first half as it built a comfortable 41-17 advantage at the break.

The Eagles, who won their sixth straight game, will face host Florida in Wednesday's championship game.

Jamie Cassidy scored 16 points and Kristen McCormic 10 for Maine (4-5), which lost for the second time this season to the Eagles. Boston Collge posted a 68-56 victory over the Black Bears in the Preseason WNIT.

Boston College shot 52 percent (26-of-50) overall while holding the Black Bears to 35 percent (18-of-51) from the field.
