CHESTNUT HILL, Massachusetts (Ticker) -- Becky Gottstein had 23 points and 15 rebounds, leading Boston College (No. 25 ESPN/USA Today, unranked AP) to a 65-55 victory over Villanova in the Big East Conference opener for both schools. Gottstein was 8-of-11 from the field and 7-of-7 from the line for the Eagles, who shot 50 percent (24-of-48) from the floor and made 14-of-16 free throws. Cal Bouchard added 14 points for Boston College (6-3, 1-0 Big East), which held a 27-20 halftime lead. The Eagles are 3-3 since opening the season with three wins. Trish Juhline scored 15 points and Nicole Druckenmiller had 13 for Villanova (4-3, 0-1), which shot 38 percent (22-of-55) and attempted only seven free throws, hitting four.
