Carr trouble: Lions cruise past La Salle

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Katrena Carr scored 14 points and Helen Darling had 12 points and 12 assists to help Penn State (No. 12 ESPN/USA Today, No. 16 AP) defeat La Salle 78-64 on Wednesday night.

The Nittany Lions (5-2) went on a decisive 19-2 run after La Salle's Shannon McDade tied the game at 40-40 early in the second half. The Nittany Lions led 59-42 with 11:26 left and the Explorers (4-3) never got closer than 11 points the rest of the way.

Jen Zenszer led La Salle with 20 points and six assists. Suzanne Keilty had 11 points and Marjorie Rhoads added 10.

Maren Walseth and Lisa Shepherd each scored 11 points and Rashana Barnes added 10 for Penn State.

Penn State outrebounded the Explorers 50-32, while La Salle could only go 3-of-11 from the free-throw line.
