CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- North Carolina had too much LaQuanda Barksdale for Georgia Southern.

Barksdale scored 31 points on 13-of-22 shooting and pulled down 18 rebounds to lead the Tar Heels (No. 14 ESPN/USA Today, No. 11 AP) to their sixth win in seven games, 74-55 over Georgia Southern on Tuesday.

Nikki Teasley added 19 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and five steals for North Carolina (6-2), which built a 37-25 halftime lead despite 34 percent shooting from the field (12-of-35).

The Tar Heels dominated underneath, outrebounding the Lady Eagles, 50-38. That helped North Carolina overcome 26 turnovers, including seven apiece by Barksdale and Teasley.

Tondra Warren was the only player in double figures for Georgia Southern (1-5) with 19 points. She also grabbed eight rebounds. But the rest of the Lady Eagles' starters combined for only 23 points on 9-of-26 shooting.
