Hokies dismiss in-state rival JMU

HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) -- Tere Williams had 19 points and 13 rebounds Thursday night to lead Virginia Tech (No. 24 ESPN/USA Today, No. 25 AP) to a 66-50 victory over James Madison.

Sarah Hicks hit a 3-pointer nearly 2½ minutes into the game to open the scoring and Virginia Tech (4-2) never trailed.

Kim Seaver had all but two of her 13 points in the second half for Virginia Tech, which finished with a 46-27 rebound advantage.

The Hokies shot 59 percent from the field in the second half and James Madison, which trailed by 12 at halftime, got no closer than seven points over the final 20 minutes.

Mandy White had 15 points for James Madison (2-3), which shot 33 percent for the game.
