KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- Desiree Francis scored 19 points and Angie Welle added 17 and 10 rebounds as 11th-ranked Iowa State captured its first Big 12 Conference tournament title with a 75-65 triumph over Texas.

It was the Cyclones' seventh straight win and put them in solid position to host an NCAA Tournament subregional for the third straight season.

Megan Taylor scored 16 points for Iowa State (25-5), which shot 51 percent (28-of-55) from the floor in its first Big 12 Conference championship game. Francis shot 8-of-13 from the floor while Welle hit 6-of-10.

The Cyclones overcame a poor performance from Naismith Award finalist Stacy Frese, who finished with just five points on 2-of-8 shooting.

Edwina Brown had 23 points and 11 rebounds while Tracy Cook added 10 points for the Lady Longhorns (21-12), who have split their last eight games heading into the NCAA Tournament.
