ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Anne Thorius scored 18 points and Stacey Thomas had 13 as Michigan defeated No. 12 Purdue 74-67 Saturday.

Thorius' two free throws with 2:27 remaining gave the Wolverines (11-4, 3-1 Big Ten) a 66-61 lead that Purdue (9-4, 1-2) couldn't trim any further.

The victory was secured when Thomas picked off a pass with under two minutes remaining and Michigan leading 68-61.

Katie Douglas kept Purdue close most of the second half, scoring 21 of her game-high 30 points in the final 20 minutes. During one stretch, Douglas scored five straight points to cut Michigan's lead to 53-52 with 7:18 remaining.

But Michigan, which used an up-tempo offensive attack to counter the Boilermakers' size, was able to capitalize on the Boilermakers' mistakes, forcing them into 20 turnovers.

A first-half steal by Thomas made her the Big Ten's career leader in that category, eclipsing the previous record of 127 held by former Wisconsin player Keisha Anderson.

Camille Cooper scored 26 points for Purdue.
