OXFORD, Ohio (AP) -- Travis Prentice ran for 49 yards to break the NCAA's record for Division I-A rushing touchdowns and lead Miami of Ohio to a 43-0 victory over Buffalo in the Mid-American Conference on Saturday.

Prentice finished his college career with 73 rushing touchdowns. He went into the game tied at 72 with Ricky Williams, who won the Heisman Trophy last year at Texas.

The victory also enabled Miami (7-4, 6-2) to clinch the second-place spot in the MAC East Division.

Buffalo, in its first season in Division I-A since 1970, finished the season at 0-11 and 0-8 in the MAC.

Prentice scored his first touchdown with 7:56 left in the first quarter to give Miami a 16-0 lead. The RedHawks led 17-0 at the half.

Trevor Gaylor, the RedHawks' career leader in receptions scored the first touchdown of the game with the help of an 84-yard pass from Mike Bath. Gaylor's second touchdown came on a 34-yard pass from Bath at the top of the second quarter.

Bath, who completed his first six passes of the day and 10-of-11 in the first half, now ranks No. 2 in Miami's all-time passing yardage with 4,107 yards. Miami's career leader is Sam Ricketts with 5,870 yards.
