BOX SCORE
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Gerard Arnold rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown Saturday to lead Memphis to a 14-10 victory over Army. Arnold's performance on 22 carries included a 7-yard touchdown run in the first half for the Tigers (4-6, 3-2 Conference USA). After scoring a touchdown off a Memphis miscue early in the game, Army (3-6, 1-4) could muster little offense. The Cadets' average field possession in the second half was their 17, and they reached Tigers territory only once, stalling at the Memphis 43. The winning drive came after Memphis switched quarterbacks, bringing in Neil Suber for starter Travis Anglin. On Suber's first series, he led Memphis on an eight-play, 69-yard drive, covering the last yard himself on fourth-and-goal with 14:15 left in the game. From there, the Memphis defense took over, holding the Cadets to two first downs in the quarter. Nose tackle Marcus Bell was instrumental with four tackles for loss in the game, including two in the fourth quarter. Strong safety Idrees Bashir also was involved in four tackles for loss. Army led 10-7 at the half after controlling the ground game with its wishbone attack. The Cadets gained 170 yards rushing in the opening two quarters. The Army touchdown came after a Memphis turnover early in the first quarter. The Cadets punted after the game's opening series stalled, but Memphis returner Tripp Higgins bobbled the kick at his 5, and Army's Ben Edgar recovered at the 7. Three plays later, Alton McCallum's 3-yard run gave Army a 7-0 lead. Arnold's touchdown run came later in the first quarter. Army answered with a 38-yard field goal by Matt Parker with just under nine minutes to play in the half for the 10-7 lead. | ALSO SEE College Football Scoreboard Army Clubhouse Memphis Clubhouse College football Top 25 overview
