HAMILTON, N.Y. (AP) _ Ryan Vena threw for 182 yards, ran for 83 more yards and scored three touchdowns to help Colgate University to a 28-24 win over Lehigh University Saturday in the Patriot League.

Vena completed 17 of 24 passes and gave up one interception on the day. He hit Jason Mattee with six passes for 80 yards and a pair of Colgate's TDs.

Colgate (8-1, 3-1 Patriot League) survived four first-half turnovers and rallied from a 17-0 first quarter deficit to snap Lehigh's streak of 20 consecutive regular season wins, the nation's longest.

Lehigh (8-1, 3-1) began the fourth quarter with a 24-13 lead. But early in the period, Vena hit Ryan Ojeda with a 17-yard pass on 4th-and-2 from the Lehigh 27-yard line and followed soon after with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Mattes on 4th down and goal.

Mattes ran in the two-point conversion to bring Colgate within three at 24-21.

Colgate safety Tom McCarroll set up a chance to win with his interception of Phil Stambaugh's deflected pass at the Lehigh 45.

Colgate then drove for 10 plays ending with Vena's 9-yard scramble into the end zone on third-and-goal. The drive that took up 4:35 on the clock also included a 13-yard pass to tight end Barry HoAire and another fourth down conversion on a sneak by Vena inside the 10.

Colgate succeeded on four of seven fourth-down plays on the day.

Tailback Randall Joseph ran for 112 yards and a score, while Tim Lavoie picked up much of the workload in the second half and gained 74 on 15 carries.

Stambaugh gave the Mountain Hawks a 14-0 lead and the ball at the Colgate 28 in the first half, but Colgate held Lehigh to a field goal and turned the momentum.

Joseph scored on a 13-yard run and Vena took the Red Raiders 69 yards in the final 29 seconds of the first half, hitting Mattes from 23 yards out to cut the lead to 17-13.

Stambaugh threw for 174 yards and two scores for Lehigh, hitting tight end Bruce Peltzer in the first quarter and fullback Brett Snyder to give Lehigh a 24-13 advantage early in the third.
