BOX SCORE
OXFORD, Ohio (AP) -- Travis Prentice scored three times to break Ricky Williams' year-old major-college records for points and touchdowns and rushed for a school-record 376 yards in Miami of Ohio's 32-23 victory over Akron on Saturday.
Prentice scored on runs of 75, 2 and 72 yards to give him 76 career touchdowns, one more than Williams had for Texas. Prentice has scored 456 points, surpassing Williams' total by four points. The 376 yards broke the school mark of 326 set by George Swarn in 1985 and increased Prentice's career total to 5,364 yards, fifth best in Division I-A.Akron (6-4, 4-3 Mid-American Conference) cut the Miami lead to 25-23 on Brandon Payne's 4-yard run with 4:14 remaining. After the kickoff, Miami (6-3, 5-1) took over at its 20 and Prentice rushed for 5 and 3 yards before breaking the 72-yarder to put the game out of reach. Prentice's 411 all-purpose yards -- he also caught one pass for 35 yards and threw one incomplete pass -- set a school record and was the second-best total in MAC history.
Payne scored twice for Akron while gaining 67 yards on 18 carries. Butchie Washington completed 11-of-23 passes for 233 yards with three interceptions, hitting Lavel Bailey on an 8-yard pass to open the scoring. Bailey had four catches for 153 yards.
