  RECAP | BOX SCORE

OXFORD, Ohio (AP) -- Robert Cooper scored three touchdowns and ran for 209 yards as Cincinnati defeated Miami of Ohio 52-42 Saturday, the highest-scoring of the 104 games between the schools.

Cooper scored on runs of 29 and 12 yards and a 32-yard pass from Deontey Kenner. His last touchdown, with 11:44 left in the third quarter, gave Cincinnati (3-5) a 35-30 lead.

Miami's Travis Prentice scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter for his 73rd career touchdown and 68th by rushing. He needs two touchdowns to tie Ricky Williams' major-college record of 75 and is four rushing touchdowns short of Williams' mark of 72. He needs 14 points to tie Williams' record of 452.

Kenner also threw two 2-yard touchdown passes to Tony Smikle and ran 4 yards for a score. Lloyd Garden ran 1 yard for a touchdown and Jonathon Ruffin kicked a 35-yard field goal.

Mike Bath of Miami (5-3) threw four touchdown passes on plays covering 25, 14 and 24 yards to Trevor Gaylor and 77 yards to Nate Sexton and Andy Brumbergs kicked field goals of 42, 30 and 41 yards.

Cincinnati's 52 points and the combined 94 were records for the series, which dates to 1888. The previous marks were 46 by the Bearcats in 1904 and 83 for the teams in 1986.

Gaylor caught eight passes for 168 yards and boosted his career total to 1,792 yards receiving, breaking the school record of 1,778 set by Jay Hall last year. Bath was 21-for-41 for a school-record 352 yards, surpassing Mike Bates' 341 yards against Toledo in 1987.
