STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) _ Adrian Peterson ran for 2- and 17-yard touchdowns, lifting Georgia Southern out of a deficit and to a 34-17 victory over The Citadel in a Southern Conference matchup Saturday.

Peterson rushed 26 times for 110 yards. Greg Hill ran the ball 19 times for 112 yards and threw a 40-yard pass to Andre Weathers for the Eagles' (5-2, 4-1) first points of the game, which was tied three times before Georgia Southern took control.

The Citadel's Bradley Hall tied the score at 7-7 in the first period with a 2-yard run. Georgia Southern's Chris Chambers then kicked a 42-yard field goal to give the Eagles a 3-point advantage.

Nick Haas responded with a 38-yard field goal with 9:06 left in the half to tie it up 10-10 at halftime.

Drew Johnson's 1-yard scoring run in the third gave the Bulldogs (1-5, 0-3) the lead once again.

But Peterson responded with his 2-yard touchdown, tying the game once again. That's when the Eagles took over with a 36-yard field goal from Chambers, Peterson's second touchdown and an 8-yard touchdown run from J.R. Revere.
