SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) _ Lionel Hayes passed for two touchdowns and Michael Young ran for 110 yards and another score Saturday as Grambling State beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 24-19, in a Southwestern Athletic Conference game. Hayes threw touchdown passes of 21 yards to Scotty Anderson and 26 yards to Levi Washington as Grambling (5-2, 2-0 SWAC) built a 14-0 lead that held up against a third-quarter rally by special teams for UAPB (3-4, 0-3). After Lawere Richmond's 27-yard field goal expanded Grambling's lead to 17-0 early in the third period, UAPB's Bobby Jett returned the ensuing kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown and Chris Collins ran back a blocked punt for another score four minutes later to narrow Grambling's lead to 17-13. But Grambling then drove 79 yards on 10 plays, with Young running two yards for the touchdown, as Grambling opened a 24-13 lead late in the third period. UAPB's Kevin Williams threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Yotoy McCoy with 31 seconds left in the game. Hayes finished with 13 completions in 27 attempts for 221 yards and also was intercepted once. Williams anchored UAPB's offense, completing 11 of 26 attempts for 123 yards, but also was intercepted three times.
