PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) _ Taylor Northrop kicked three field goals and, one week after being benched in the fourth quarter, sophomore Tommy Crenshaw threw for 218 yards and one touchdown as Princeton defeated Lafayette 22-10 Saturday. Princeton (2-3), which is now 32-2-3 against Lafayette (1-5), got 147 rushing yards and one touchdown from Derek Theisen. Crenshaw, who was named the Tigers' regular quarterback three weeks ago but was replaced after struggling in last week's loss to Brown, completed 21 of 35 and finished with career highs in attempts, completions and yards. He also threw his first career touchdown pass, a 14-yard strike to Phil Wendler. Princeton increased a 10-point halftime lead to 16-3 when Northrop booted a 42-yard field goal early in the third quarter. The Tigers put the game away on Theisen's two-yard TD run with 7:31 remaining. Lafayette committed penalties on three straight third-down plays, including two pass interference infractions in the endzone, to keep Princeton's drive alive. The Tigers took a 13-0 lead in the second quarter on field goals of 47 and 44 yards by Northrop and Wendler's touchdown catch. Danny Brian helped set up both field goals with receptions of 44 and 30 yards. The touchdown came on the first play from scrimmage after Ryan Demler's interception and seven-yard return. Northrop, who was 1-for-3 in field goal attempts entering the game, had a chance to increase Princeton's lead but had a 37-yard attempt blocked by Kenya Allen. Lafayette responded by scoring its first points in three games against Princeton when Ryan Mayo's career-long, 59-yard run helped set up Martin Brecht's 30-yard field goal with 29 seconds left in the half. Lafayette started its first two possessions of the game at the Princeton 43 and 42, but the drives ended in a punt and a missed 28-yard field goal by Brecht, who hit the right upright.
