AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -- Romaro Miller hit Cory Peterson with a 23-yard scoring pass in overtime to lift Ole Miss to a 24-17 Southeastern Conference victory over Auburn on Saturday.

After scoring on its overtime possession, the Rebels (3-1 overall, 1-1 SEC) stuffed Auburn (3-1, 1-1) on four straight plays from inside the 5.

After losing to Vanderbilt in overtime last week, the Rebels came back to beat their former coach, Tommy Tuberville.

Auburn's Damon Duval missed a 36-yard field goal attempt with 17 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Miller hit Peterson for their second TD connection on the second play of overtime. Auburn quarterback Jeff Klein, subbing for injured starter Ben Leard most of the second half, opened Auburn's overtime series with a 22-yard pass to Travaris Robinson to the Rebels 3.

Ole Miss stopped Rusty Williams on two straight runs and dropped Clifton Robinson for a 2-yard loss on third down. The Rebels then harried Klein, a redshirt freshman, into an incompletion.

Ole Miss' Les Binkley scored the only points of the fourth quarter on a 45-yard field goal to tie the game with 5:03 left.

Miller, who also hit Peterson on a 54-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, was 17-of-29 for 242 yards with an interception.

It was that interception, by redshirt freshman defensive back Rashaud Walker, that set up Auburn's final scoring chance in the fourth. Walker, who recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a first-half touchdown, returned the interception to the Ole Miss 39 with three minutes to play.

The Tigers couldn't get closer than the 19, however.

Leard, second nationally in passing efficiency, was 14-for-17 for 100 yards before a partially separated shoulder on a sack on the opening series of the third quarter sent him to the sideline.

Klein, 10-for-16 for 112 yards, gave the Tigers their only lead of the day with a 25-yard pass to Ryan Hooker with 3:49 left in the third quarter.
