MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) _ Gary Reed scored on a 15-yard run and a 65-yard punt return Saturday as Samford defeated Tennessee-Martin 32-7. Brian Holmes kicked a 48-yard field goal for Samford (2-1). Martin (1-2) cut the lead to 3 points in the second quarter when Marc Calixt picked up a Samford fumble and returned it 95 yards for a touchdown. But Samford continued to dominate, accumulating 319 rushing yards, with Jerome Russell and Rashad Brewer rushing for 115 yards each. Samford added scores with Reed's 65-yard punt return with 2:45 left in the third quarter and Holmes' 20-yard field goal at 2:56 left in the game. The victory is the 32nd for Samford head coach Pete Hurt, giving him the second most wins in school history. Terry Bowden holds the record, with 45 wins between 1987 and 1992.
