BURLINGTON, N.C. (AP) _ Quarterback Derrick Moore threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score as Elon beat North Alabama 35-15 Saturday. Moore opened the scoring with a 45-yard strike to Rae Brown with 6:32 left in the first quarter. North Alabama fought back, scoring twice in a span of just over two minutes in the second quarter. Tyrone Moore scored on a 1-yard run to cap a 76-yard drive. T.D. Jones scored on a 40-yard run as the Lions took a 12-7 lead. Elon answered to take a 13-12 lead 13 seconds before halftime as Travis Whitaker caught a 2-yard TD pass from Moore. Antwon Stevenson returned a fumble 48 yards for a touchdown to extend the Fightin' Christian lead to 20-12. North Alabama pulled within 20-15 on a 44-yard Mike Mitchell field goal. Elon followed with a 13-play, 79 yard drive capped by Moore's 1-yard scoring run. Mario Thompson's 42-yard punt return to the 1 yard line set up Elon's final score. Ferguson rammed it in for the final margin.
