OGDEN, Utah (AP) _ Mike Minnoch connected on a 44-yard field goal with one second left as Weber State beat Idaho State 27-24 on Saturday night. Weber State (2-1, 1-0 Big Sky) made it to the Bengals' 4-yard line with the score tied at 24, but Morgan Welch fumbled and Idaho State's Rafe Hewett recovered with 1:14 to play. But then Jeff Main fumbled the ball back to the Wildcats with 25 seconds left, giving Minnoch, who also hit a 27-yarder earlier, another chance at the game-winning field goal. Welch and Derek Poole combined for 245 yards rushing for the Wildcats and Cole Cooper threw for 264 yards. Poole also caught a 36-yard touchdown pass. The Wildcats held Nick Whitworth, who averaged 247 yards in Idaho State's first two games, to 60 yards. Whitworth did score TD runs of 1 and 7 yards. Kevin McCarthy threw for 280 yards for the Bengals (2-1, 0-1). Idaho State rallied from a 17-0 deficit late in the second quarter.
