HONOLULU (Ticker) -- Dan Robinson fired a 14-yard touchdown pass to Attrice Brooks late in third quarter to put Hawaii ahead for good as it went on to a 31-27 victory over Eastern Illinois. Robinson's fourth touchdown pass of the game completed a 10-play, 79-yard drive as the Rainbows erased the memory of a 62-7 pounding by Southern California last week. Robinson completed 24-of-40 passes. Dwight Carter, who caught just two passes last week, had nine receptions for 220 yards and one touchdown. That score was a 12-yard catch two minutes into the third quarter to tie the game at 17-17 for Hawaii (1-1). Craig Stutzman caught a six-yard scoring pass in the third period, but Wayne Brown evened the contest at 24-24 for Eastern Illinois (0-2) on a 26-yard touchdown run with 4:08 left. Anthony Buich completed 23-of-38 passes with two touchdowns for the Panthers while Seth Willingham had six catches for 90 yards. Jabarey McDavid rushed for 94 yards on 18 carries for Eastern Illinois, which plays its home opener next week against Southern Illinois. This was the first meeting between these schools.
