FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) _ Kiheme Cowan's four-yard touchdown run lifted Sacred Heart to a 9-7 victory over Siena on Saturday. Cowan's scamper capped a 66-yard second quarter drive. He finished with 74 yards on 29 carries. In the first quarter, Sacred Heart (1-1) took a 2-0 lead when senior Mike Kuchar and freshman Craig Capruso sacked Siena quarterback Joe Spagnolo in the end zone for a safety. Siena (0-1) finally got on the scoreboard late in the final period when reserve quarterback Don Record connected with William Hisgen on a two-yard scoring pass with 3:50 remaining. The Saints got the ball back one more time but couldn't get a first down. Siena's Joe Penizotto led the Saints' offense with 122 yards on 26 carries. Freshman Kayode Mayowa led the Sacred Heart defense with 14 tackles and one interception. The Pioneers recorded nine sacks, recovered two fumbles and twice intercepted Spagnolo.
