Gillingham leaves game after apparent head injury

Associated Press

ST. LOUIS -- Bradley guard James Gillingham was taken off the court on a stretcher with an apparent head injury early in a Missouri Valley Conference tournament game Saturday night.

Gillingham was kneed in the face under the Wichita State basket and his head slammed onto the court with 18:40 to go in the first half. The game was halted for several minutes while medical personnel attended to him.

His condition was not immediately available late Saturday night.

Gillingham, a 6-foot-4 junior guard, is a second-team all-conference player averaging 15.5 points and 4.2 rebounds.
