BLOOMINGTON, Ind. The search committee for a new Indiana
athletic director has narrowed its list to two finalists whose
names will be submitted to university president Myles Brand.
"I would expect that the president will move very quickly and
that we should have an athletics director announced within a week,
10 days at the most," IU vice president for administration Terry
Clapacs said.
Clapacs would not divulge the names of the finalists, although
he said the committee "was unanimous" in its recommendation of
the two candidates.
He said it may take a week or more for Brand to decide because
"of logistics."
"I'm sure the president is going to want to meet with both of
them before making a decision."
Clarence Doninger, the athletic director the past 10 years, is
retiring June 30.
