North Carolina playbook: Final Forte

North Carolina came off the bubble and is now headed to the Final Four. Once written off as undeserving, the Tar Heels have jelled behind the senior leadership of guard Ed Cota and the point production of freshman Joseph Forte. Against Tulsa, Forte scored 28 points to get the Heels to Indy.

ANIMATE THIS PLAY DIAGRAM WITH SHOCKWAVE
(A) The Tar Heels have moved away from a strict low-post style to a more wing-oriented style of play. The Heels count on the stability and savvy of Ed Cota (5) to get the ball into the right hands.

(B) Jason Capel (25) curls up off a screen, and if he can get a step on his man, he will be open for the 3-pointer at the top of the key.

(C)The second option is for leading scorer Joseph Forte (40). Forte runs the baseline, using two screens, one from tight end Julius Peppers (45) and the other from Brendan Haywood (00).

(D) When Forte can get this open, Carolina is playing to their strength, and it will be Final Forte time in Indy.
