LAIE, Hawaii (AP) _ Jamaal Tinsley scored eight of his 14 points during a big second half run that carried Iowa State to a 73-68 win Saturday night against No. 24 Mississippi in the championship game of the Yahoo! Sports Invitational.

The Cyclones (10-1) trailed 48-34 after Emmanuel Wade converted a three-point play with 14:43 to play. But Iowa State went on a 21-5 run that knocked the Rebels (11-1) from the ranks of the unbeaten.

During the spurt, Tinsley got the basket that put his team ahead for good with 9:32 to play.

The Cyclones made 13 of 19 shots in the second half.

Mississippi, which shot 52 percent (15-of-29) in the first half, hit only 9 of 26 shots over the final 20 minutes.

Jake Sullivan led the Cyclones with 18 points with Tinsley and Kantrail Horton adding 14 and Martin Rancik had 13 and eight rebounds.

Rahim Lockhart scored 15 points for the Rebels. Justin Reed and Jason Holmes had 12 each.
