WASHINGTON (AP) -- Georgetown coach Craig Esherick thought the
Hoyas were looking forward to Christmas during their victory over
Maryland-Eastern Shore.
"We had the hurry-up-and-get-home-for-Christmas-vacation blues,
particularly two or three guys who started the game lethargic,"
Esherick said after the Hoyas' 75-61 victory Friday night.

"But Nathaniel Burton, Victor Samnick and RaMell Ross came off
the bench and gave us energy."
Ruben Boumtje Boumtje had 18 points, seven rebounds and four
blocks to help Georgetown (No. 22 ESPN/USA Today, No. 23 AP) improve to 10-0, the Hoyas' best start
since beginning the 1989-90 season 14-0.
Burton added 14 points, and Lee Scruggs had six points in his
first game of the season. The 6-foot-11 forward was academically
ineligible for Georgetown's first nine games.
"I'm glad that Lee was able to play, and I'm glad we're going
to have Lee for the rest of the season," Esherick said of Scruggs,
who also had four rebounds in 10 minutes.
"I look forward to trying to work him in as quickly as I can.
We found out today, and he found out today, that he was able to
play. He needs some time to get his head clear."
Kevin Darby led Maryland-Eastern Shore (1-5) with 18 points.
Andre Newson added 10 points, and Ali Troman had 10 rebounds.
The Hawks played without Thomas Trotter Jr., the team scoring
leader who is expected to miss 2-to-4 weeks because of a knee
injury.
An MCI Center crowd of 5,256 welcomed Scruggs back with 8:06
remaining in the first half, and he promptly responded by forcing a
turnover. His first basket gave the Hoyas a 22-17 lead.
"It feels a lot better knowing that Lee is back," said
Georgetown point guard Kevin Braswell, who had nine points, five
assists and five steals.
"We're always hanging out together, and we know each other on
the floor. I wish he would've been eligible the first semester, but
things happen for a reason. Now that he's back, we'll be ready to
go as soon as we get into the Big East."
Darby's 3-pointer pulled Maryland-Eastern Shore to 29-26 with
2:55 remaining in the first half. Burton's 3-pointer from the
corner gave the Hoyas a 41-28 halftime lead.
