WASHINGTON (AP) -- Georgetown coach Craig Esherick enjoyed the offensive fireworks in the Hoyas' 123-90 victory Saturday over Howard.

Despite the Bisons' loss to the Hoyas, Howard's Ron Williamson scored 41 points against unbeaten Georgetown.

Howard's Ron Williamson scored 41 points Saturday, connecting 11 times from 3-point range.
"That was one of the better offensive displays that I've seen by both teams, Esherick said. "We definitely shot the ball very well today, and they shot the heck out of it, too."

Ruben Boumtje Boumtje had 21 points and reserve Wesley Wilson added 20 as Georgetown (No. 23 ESPN/USA Today, No. 24 AP) overcame Williamson's total, the most ever scored against the Hoyas.

"Ron had one of those memorable days of shooting the basketball," said Howard coach Frankie Allen. "It was one of those days that he can tell his kids about 20 years from now: You were at the MCI Center, the opponent was Georgetown, nationally ranked, and you scored all those points."

Boumtje made eight of nine shots for the Hoyas (9-0), and added seven rebounds and three blocks. Wilson added 11 rebounds in just 19 minutes for Georgetown, off to its best start in since going 14-0 in 1989-90.

Williamson's point total, built on 13-of-22 shooting -- including 11 of 17 on 3-pointers -- was the most ever scored against Georgetown. It surpassed the 36 points scored by Billy Owens in Syracuse's 95-76 victory over the Hoyas on Jan. 27, 1990.

As a team, the much-smaller Bison (2-8) hit 18 of 30 from behind the arc to keep the game respectable. Ali Abdullah made four of five 3-pointers and finished with 15 points and 11 assists.

Overall, Howard made 60 percent of its shots.

Georgetown's Kevin Braswell had 16 points on 7-for-7 shooting, and added seven assists, five rebounds and four steals. Demetrius Hunter, who hit five of six 3-pointers, had 17 points and four assists in just 17 minutes.

Boumtje got Georgetown going with a slam on the run for a 25-19 lead with 12:49 remaining in the first half. Hunter's 3-pointer gave the Hoyas a 45-29 lead with 5:33 left in the half.
