PALO ALTO, California (Ticker) -- Jason Collins scored 19 points as third-ranked Stanford cruised to a commanding lead and crushed Cal-Riverside, 84-41.

Collins' twin brother, Jarron, added six points and six rebounds in the opening 20 minutes as Stanford (5-0) bolted to a 47-19 edge at the break. Teyo Johnson chipped in a pair of 3-pointers in seven minutes off the bench during the half.

Ryan Mendez opened the game with a 3-pointer for Stanford and the lead was 14-3 less than five minutes into the contest. UC-Riverside (1-4) reeled off six straight points to close within five, but the Cardinal scored the next 13 points to turn the game into a rout.

Jason Collins was 6-of-9 from the field and grabbed 11 rebounds while Jarron Collins finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Stanford shot 45 percent (27-of-60) from the field, including 43 percent (9-of-21) from 3-point range.

The Cardinal also made 21-of-25 free throws while the Highlanders got to the line just four times.

"I didn't intend to play Jason and Jarron that much, but I didn't have much choice -- I only had three post guys," Stanford coach Mike Montgomery said. "We're just going to try and improve. We have got to improve every time out. If we don't, we won't be good enough to compete in our league."

UC-Riverside also struggled from 3-point range, making just 5-of-25 shots.

Jason Labagh and Aaron Hands had six points apiece for Riverside, whose leading scorer, Mark Miller, was held to five points on 2-of-12 shooting.

"Certainly for Riverside, just coming into Division I, this is a tough place to come and play, given this set of circumstances," Montgomery said.
