LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Brothers Joe and Jon Crispin combined for 57 points, going 13-for-23 from 3-point range, to lift Penn State to a stunning 73-68 win over No. 22 Kentucky on Saturday night.

Boos cascaded from the sellout crowd in the final seconds, and the Penn State players mobbed each other in celebration at midcourt when the game ended. The Wildcats had won 11 straight home openers since beginning the 1988-89 season with an 85-82 loss to Northwestern State in Eddie Sutton's last season.

The Wildcats (1-3) had also won 20 straight games at home since a 47-46 setback to Tennessee on Jan. 12, 1999.

Kentucky hit just 29-of 74 shots (39 percent) and only 5-of-26 from 3-point range (19 percent). Kentucky also went just 5-of-15 from the free-throw line, including three crucial misses in the closing minutes.

Erik Daniels led Kentucky with 16 points and fellow freshman Jason Parker added 15. Parker also grabbed 15 rebounds as the Cats dominated the boards, outrebounding Penn State 57-36. The Cats had 24 offensive rebounds.

The game was tied four times in the second half, before Penn State took the lead for good at 64-61 on a Jon Crispin 3-pointer. Joe Crispin followed with another 3-pointer to make it 67-61. Daniels hit two straight baskets to pull Kentucky within two.

The teams traded field goals before Joe Crispin scored to give Penn State a 71-67 cushion.

Gerald Fitch missed two free throws and Marquis Estill split a pair to make it 71-68. The Wildcats had a chance to tie the game after Joe Crispin was called for traveling. But Bogans launched a 3-pointer that was partially blocked by Gyasi Cline-Heard, and Jon Crispin sank two free throws to seal the victory.

The Wildcats are off to their worst start since 1984 when they opened 1-4.

Penn State trailed by two at halftime, but opened the second half with a 12-2 spurt to build an eight-point lead. Joe Crispin hit a field goal to tie the game at 39-39, and Jon Crispin put the Lions ahead two possessions later with a 3-pointer. Titus Ivory and Joe Crispin added 3-pointers to give Penn State its biggest lead at 49-41.

The Wildcats led the entire first half, opening an 11-point lead before Penn State chipped away to trail 39-37 at halftime. Two freshmen accounted for a 9-0 spurt to give the Wildcats their biggest lead of the opening half.

Daniels hit two field goals and a 3-pointer during an individual 7-0 scoring burst. Cliff Hawkins' layup after a Kentucky steal put the Wildcats up 34-23.

The Crispins, who each scored 15 first-half points, led a Penn State surge late in the half. Jon Crispin sank two free throws and another 3-pointer to pull the Lions to within five at 36-31. Cline-Heard hit Penn State's first two free throws of the half and Joe Crispin added a basket and two free throws to trim Kentucky's lead to two by halftime.
