Users: Some say play, others say go away

Michael Jordan & Kobe Bryant
Some users question whether MJ will be able to keep up with Kobe and others.

With Michael Jordan apparently moving a step closer to returning to the NBA, we asked for your thoughts on the possibility of his comeback with the Wizards.

Following is a sampling of your views:

Your Jordan Feedback

What's wrong with someone who loves their job so much that they just can't stay away from it .... NOTHING!
Justin Elefson
Des Moines, Iowa

What could MJ possibly have left to prove? I think it's time to let the new generation have its turn in the spotlight. Kareem, Magic and Bird all retired gracefully. Maybe MJ should take a page from their book! Same goes for Sir Charles!
Ric Stanfield
Anaheim Calif.

Jordan's enormous ego rides again! If he thinks he is even going to be one-tenth of guys like McGrady, Kobe, Iverson, and Carter, he's flat wrong. The Wizards can't play zone all year. Once he starts getting torched every night he is going to wish he was smoking a cigar on the eighth green.
Nolan
Los Angeles

I think MJ's return is great. No one complained when Mario came back. You can't ever deny a man his passion to compete. Will it tarnish the last shot in the finals? Maybe so, but when Michael looks back on his life I am not sure he could live with a 'What if?' question.
Jay Daley

All I can do is smile from ear to ear!

I can only hope now that he comes to his senses.
Rob Julianelle

MJ is just another washed-up athlete who misses the spotlight. There is a long list of great athletes who did the same. Once he realizes he doesn't have his skills anymore his comeback will end. It will end just like Magic Johnson's comeback ended -- with people laughing at him and respecting him less. It's a shame. I actually thought he was going to be different, but he's not.
Peter Gundrum
Milwaukee

I understand that he wants to come back and prove his athletic prowess, but does he really have to? The guy has done it all. Why come back and possibly tarnish that image?
Matt Scheer
New Haven, Mo.

Jordan is going to make defenders wish he never came back, especially Cocky Bryant. Halftime of that game, Cocky will be crying, huddled up in Shaq's arms.
Andy Allen
Chicago

Jordan went out a winner and should stay retired. Today's players will run circles around him, and he will end up like Ripken and Marino at the end of their careers -- HAS BEENS.
Jeff
Columbia, Md.

I am just happy to get the chance to watch the greatest basketball player ever a few more times. The NBA has become so boring to watch as big men just elbow their way to the basket. No matter what the Wizards' record is, I will be watching Jordan as much as possible, and loving every minute of it.
Ryan Murdock
Maryville, Mo.

Please, MJ, don't do this to a great legacy. Please allow us to remember you on top! Don't give us the Willie Mays and Ali sickness. Stay put, my friend, we love you the way we remember you.
DC
Chicago

For a huge Jordan fan as myself, this is the best possible news you could hear. I believe that the NBA needs Jordan. The younger stars have proven that they are not ready to lead the NBA into the future from a mental standpoint. Jordan stands for what is good in this game. He still can play at a high level even at the age of 38. I wish him nothing but luck. The NBA has just gained a fan back.
Adam Melton
Chapel Hill, NC

If he comes back, sure I will watch him play. Who wouldn't? The man is a living legend, the No. 1 athlete of the century. I say let him be. Only Mike knows what's best for him. And he's proved that time and again.
Dan Nysether
Mahwah, N.J.

MJ should not come back! He left hitting the game-winner while he was the best in the game. I don't want to watch an older, slower MJ when the images of Superman are still in my mind.
Duane,
Florida

My first reaction is this great, I will see No. 23 flying down the court again. But then I think, and can't imagine MJ in any other color than black, red and white. My gut feeling is that he should stay retired and be remembered for the storybook ending that he gave us.
Brian McGraw
Kutztown, Pa.

No Michael. Go ahead and ruin your spectacular image by going back to play for a losing club. No Michael ... not the Wizards!
Chuck Leas
Clinton, Iowa

I think it's great. Who knows better than Michael himself. People say he's too old, but look at everybody else that's the same age and older who put up great numbers (Stockton, Malone, Hakeem).
Jonny Allen
Carmichaels, Pa.

People say he's too old, he's lost a step, he's not the same MJ. If this were true, he wouldn't come back, as the tarnishing of his image would be a tough blow to take for such a proud individual. Kudos MJ, and good luck with comeback part two.
Andy Rowe
Hamilton, N.Y.

Jordan, "For the love of the game," please remain retired. We as fans are completely humbled for your desire to return to the game and are in debt for the memories you have provided throughout your amazing career. Every career must come to a end and the NBA has moved on. Returning will only take the focus away from the rest of the NBA for a few extra seasons of your presence. It took too long for the NBA and its fans to accept a post-Jordan era. As fans, let us remember your greatness and not taint your image with a return that could have a negative effect on the overall game of basketball.
Scott Chambers
Columbus, Ohio

Anyone who doesn't pick Michael Jordan as their preseason MVP is a fool. At the age of 38 he is still the only player in the NBA that can step on the floor with any other four guys and win night in and night out.
Mikhael Maddux
Houston

Jordan left as king of the court he's returning as jester of the court.
Chris Wallace
Little Rock, Ark.

I can't wait for him to stick a fadeaway J in Kobe's eye.
Phil Rexroth
Bourbonnais, Ill.

It will be interesting to see if MJ's "love of the game" will still exist in January when the Wiz is 10-26, no matter if he's averaging 15 or 30 points per game.
Marc
Oakland, Calif.
