Ferry charged with flagrant foul on Howard
Associated Press

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was ejected from Game 2 against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night for arguing a flagrant foul call in the second quarter.

The call was made on Danny Ferry, who committed a hard foul on Dallas' Juwan Howard as he drove to the basket.

Popovich ran onto the court screaming that the call was unfair. Two nights earlier, in Game 1, Howard got a flagrant foul for a midair collision with Derek Anderson that left the Spurs guard with a separated shoulder.

The Spurs wanted Howard to be suspended for the play, but NBA officials declined to do that. Howard started for the Mavericks in Game 2. Anderson could miss the rest of the playoffs.

After Popovich was ejected with 4:27 left in the first half, Dirk Nowitzki of the Mavericks made two free throws and then Howard made two more to give Dallas a 35-33 lead.

The Spurs won Game 1 of the best-of-seven series.
