LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant sprained his left ankle when he made a jumper and came down on the foot of Indiana's Jalen Rose with 3:05 left in the first quarter of Game 2 of the NBA Finals.

Bryant remained on the floor briefly, got to his feet and hopped on his right foot in obvious pain.

Bryant was taken to the locker room, got the ankle taped, and had X-rays. He had it iced and will not return to the game. His status for Sunday night's Game 3 was uncertain.

The Lakers, up 1-0 in the series, led 22-20 at the time, then made another basket before timeout was called.
