MIAMI -- Point guard Tim Hardaway, hobbled by a sore left foot, didn't dress Saturday for the Miami Heat's first-round playoff game against the Detroit Pistons.

Hardaway is sidelined indefinitely with the injury, which forced him to miss the final two regular-season games.

"I feel tremendous compassion for Tim," coach Pat Riley said before Saturday's game. "I just know how much he wants to be there and how much our guys feed off him. We're just going to have to overcome that until we can get him back, whenever that is."

Rookie Anthony Carter started in place of Hardaway.
