Eight to vie for Hornacek's vacant crown

NEW YORK -- Allan Houston of the New York Knicks and Ray
Allen of the Milwaukee Bucks were picked Thursday for the 3-point
shooting contest during the NBA's All-Star weekend.
Pat Garrity of Orlando, Rashard Lewis of Seattle, Steve Nash and
Dirk Nowitzki of Dallas, Bryon Russell of Utah and Predrag Stojakovic
of Sacramento also were picked for the event, to be held at
Washington on Feb. 10, a day before the All-Star Game.
Jeff Hornacek of Utah won the event last year. He has retired.
John Stockton of the Jazz leads the NBA in 3-point shooting this
season, making 50.8 percent of his attempts.
