McGrady in a lot of pain after game

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Tracy McGrady suffered a strained
right hip flexor during the Orlando Magic's 96-82 loss to
Sacramento on Tuesday night.
McGrady, who's averaging 22 points and seven rebounds per game,
was hurt late in the first half. He played 14 minutes after
halftime, but he limped around the court and had difficulty running
and jumping.
He scored just two of his 20 points in the second half. His
status for Thursday's game at Utah wasn't immediately known.
"Right now I'm in a lot of pain," McGrady said after 20
minutes of postgame physical therapy. "I don't know if I'll be
able to go Thursday. I can't remember exactly what play it happened
on. I'm going to rest it tonight and see how I feel in the
morning."
Orlando coach Doc Rivers said the Magic tried without success to
use McGrady as a decoy in the second half.
"(The Kings) understood that he couldn't run," Rivers said.
"They stopped double-teaming him, and we didn't get any shots."
The Magic, who lost for the third time in four games, already
are without forward Grant Hill, who has missed six straight games
with an ankle injury. Don Reid, who started in Hill's place against
the Kings, Pat Garrity and Mike Miller combined for just seven
points from the small forward spot.
McGrady signed a seven-year, $92.8 million contract identical to
Hill's new deal shortly before he was acquired from Toronto during
the offseason. So far he's been even better than the Magic hoped,
adding outstanding defense to a quality offensive game and leading
Orlando during Hill's absence.
"He would be tough to lose, but we'd just have to keep going,"
Magic guard Darrell Armstrong said. "Hopefully he can get back out
there on Thursday."
