TUCSON, Ariz. -- San Antonio Spurs forward Sean Elliott said Tuesday he is leaning toward returning for at least one more season.

"You don't want to go out losing," Elliott said in the San
Antonio Express-News for Wednesday's editions. "That has really
bothered me. Watching someone else win the championship after you did is not fun."
Elliott said Tim Duncan's decision to re-sign with the Spurs,
announced Tuesday, increased the likelihood he would return. He
also said he would prefer not to end his career after losing in the
first round of the playoffs last season.
"I want the opportunity to show what we really have as a
team," he said. "Right now, with Tim coming back, I'm probably
leaning pretty hard toward coming back also."
Elliott, 32, was the first professional athlete to come back
from transplant surgery. Last year, he received a kidney from his
brother Noel.
"At the end of the season, I was 99.9 percent sure I would
retire," Elliott said. "But that's changed. That's changed a lot.
I still have a lot to talk about and think about, but right now I
really feel like coming back."
Elliott averaged six points and 2.5 rebounds in 19 games with
the Spurs after returning from the operation March 14. | |
