Early entry candidate for the 2000 NBA draft. Named third team All-America by The Associated Press as a sophomore. Was named co-MVP of the Southeastern Conference as chosen by AP and was a consensus First Team All-SEC choice by AP and the league's coaches. He was also named a second team All-American by Basketball Times. Became academically eligible a third of the way into his freshman season. Finished second on LSU's career blocked shots list behind Shaquille O'Neal with 130 in only 50 games. College highlights at LSU As a sophomore, finished third in the league in scoring with an average of 16.2 ppg. He led the SEC and was fourth in the nation in field-goal percentage (.608), the seventh-best percentage in league history. He also led the SEC in blocks (2.8 bpg, 19th nationally), making him the first player at LSU since Shaquille O'Neal in 1992 to lead the SEC in two statistical categories. Also averaged a team-high 8.2 rpg. Was named MVP of the Hawaii Thanksgiving Classic, scoring 73 points in the three games. His 33 points against Wyoming marked the second-highest scoring game in the SEC last season. Posted six double-doubles in league play. Had 29 points on 13-for-18 shooting to go with nine rebounds against Arizona on Jan. 29. That same week he had 16 points in 23 minutes against Arkansas and was named co-SEC Player of the Week. As a freshman, practiced with the team for the first time on Jan. 7 and appeared in his first game Jan. 9. Appeared in 16 games and averaged 7.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Led the league in blocks in SEC games with a 2.18 per game average. Had 21 points and nine rebounds at Arizona on Feb. 13. Blocked 11 shots in a triple-overtime game at Alabama on Feb. 10.
