Camp question
The Spurs have one of the best young point guards in the league in Tony Parker. But what about his young backups in Speedy Claxton and Erick Barkley? Parker had longtime veteran Terry Porter and Antonio Daniels behind him last season. But with Porter now retired and Daniels in Portland, the Spurs must depend on some still-budding-floor generals once Parker comes out the game. After missing his rookie season with a torn ACL, Claxton averaged 7.2 points and 3.0 rebounds as a reserve for Philadelphia last season in his first full campaign. Claxton likely has the edge on Barkley, who has only played in 27 games in two NBA seasons. Steve Kerr is more known for outside shooting, not floor-general play, but can run the point if needed, as well as Steve Smith. If Parker can't play for some reason, San Antonio will have to depend on Claxton and Barkley tossing the ball to Most Valuable Player Tim Duncan.

Camp project
Look toward the two Argentineans, Emanuel Ginobili and Luis Scola, to go from beating the United States' so-called Dream Team in the World Championships to making the Spurs stronger. Ginobili is a star in the making with Jordanesque athletic ability and great defensive skills, but he still needs work on his poor mid-range jumper. Ginobili got rave reviews during the Worlds and was viewed as one of the tournament's top players. With Ginobili getting much attention, Scola was quietly a physical terror on the inside for Argentina. Scola's game is similar to Malik Rose's, but he stands two inches taller at 6-foot-8.

FANTASY GAMES KEY CAMPER
Who to watch: He wore down last season, but Tony Parker has a bright future. The numbers will show this season. Look for Parker, still only 20 years old, to become more of a scorer in the preseason and to carry that over to November. He averaged five assists per game after the break and should add to that averge.

Camp comeback
This will be the last season in a Hall of Fame career for center David Robinson. After injuries plagued him last season, he posted career lows in points (12.2) and rebounds (8.3). Hopefully, The Admiral can finish his illustrious career in decorated fashion. Duncan had a superstar season, but it was evident that he still needs Robinson for the Spurs to be a major factor in the West. A healthy Robinson along with Duncan, Parker and Ginobili could give the Spurs a team that could take some of the spotlight from the Lakers and Kings. But again, a healthy Robinson is key.

Camp controversy
Get ready for the battle between the rookie Ginobili and the veteran Smith for the shooting guard spot. Smith is a wise veteran player and an excellent outside shooter. He was the Spurs' third-leading scorer last season (11.3) and was the NBA's leader in 3-point percentage (47.2). But Ginobili is the hot, new kid on the block who is certain to be one of the NBA's top rookies. It's a choice between proven old school and exciting new school. While Smith will likely be the starter at the beginning of the season, look for Ginobili to take over the reigns by mid-season.
